Palace Player Profile : Adam Johnson (Boy's a bit special)

-the best of the best at Palace-
There are many to say about Adam Johnson. Few know that Manchester City purchased him from Championship underachievers Middlesbrough for 7.750.000 euros in the 09/10 season. He arrived at Selhurst Park in January 2013 for only 5.000.000 euros after being transfer listed by the City manager. He is quick (acceleration 17, pace 15), he can ease past opponents (dribbling 17) and he can also finish the attack with a goal (13). The left wingers nickname is very simple : Johnno (because he's afraid). Strengths : "I'm known for my creativity, so I'd say my dribbling and crossing are my strongest suits". Weaknesses : "My right foot's not the best, but I'm working on it. I don't score enough goals either, although I'm putting that right this season." Biggest influence : "My family have been great. They're there every game, home and away". If I hadn't been a footballer... : "I wanted to be a fireman but I probably wasn't clever enough. Not sure why it appealed... I just fancied sliding down those poles". In five years' time... : "I would like to be playing regularly in the Premier League and challenging for a place in the England team".
Here is all you need to know about Adam Johnson, the miracle winger that arrived from Man. City for only 5 mil.
Adam Johnson's performances in the 2012/13 season at Crystal Palace
And here are his current stats until the 20.09.2013
What to play Adam Johnson!

CSKA Sofia - Crystal Palace 0-7

A fantastic start for the Eagles in their second consecutive season in the Europa League
58.33 % of the Palace shots on targed were goals
8.43 was the rating of the Palace players, 3.18 better that CSKA's
Bilbao dropped 2 points home against BATE, while we installed ourselves in first position

Eagles in the Group F of the Europa League

This year we will strive to make a even better impression in the Euro Cup. Let's hope we would not repeat the Twente episode from last year, but we're still at the beginning of the competition.
Crystal Palace coefficients from season 08/09 to 13/14 that is ongoing
A good draw for the Eagles. Personally I am happy that the team is going to face teams from Bulgaria and Belarus.

The 3rd season debut

I didn't expected to have such a positive start to this Premier League season. First of all, the team wasn't so familiar with the tactical instructions set by me in pre-season.
We wouldn't be placed so high in the league if some indispensable players like Adam Johnson and Julian Schieber didn't had such great match performances!

Eagles - 5 stars signings

Jack Rodwell (MC) decided to sign for Crystal Palace from Everton for 10.000.000 euros. Everton had to sell some players like Rodwell and Fellaini after going trough a rough financial situation. Jack went Palace, while the Belgian opted Man.U.
The team needed another left back due to Parr's long term injury. I went for Genoa defender Luca Antonelli (DL), signing him for 7.000.000 euros. He is way better that Parr, Clyne, Moscatello or Giarletta.
Dudu from Dynamo Kyiv joined Palace for 11.000.000 euros. The main reason for the signing of the right winger was the constant injuries of Drenthe or Assaidi. Let's hope that he adjusts very quick to the British lifestyle.

Rob-Robert Zieler has joined the club for a record of 14.000.000 euros. Many people would say that the amount of money payed was far to much for a goalie and with Lewis and Lindner already at the club we must pray that I made a good decision.
Jermaine Defoe joined Crystal Palace on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. Thanks to his arrival I won't fear so much for a Julian Schieber injury! Anyway Defoe is much better that the other Eagles strikers Scannell, van Iersel or Zaha.

Eagles - Transfers out (season 2013/14)

A new season has began for Palace and i am proud to announce the newest departures from Selhurst Park.

First of all Lee Cattermole moved to Wolves on a one-year loan spell, because he simply didin't managed to convince me in his previous season at Selhurst Park. 12 league appearances, no goals/assists made, and a poor 6.71 average rating made me loan him at Molineux.

Right-back Martin Montoya left the club for 2.400.000 euros to play at St. Andrews for Birmingham City. Last season he failed to make an impact on the team for several reasons like feeling homesick or having a tough competition on his position against Owen Hargreaves, Nathaniel Clyne and especially Lamine Gassama.

Another talented player that i had to sell was former Napoli player Fabiano Santacroce. With Strandberg, Isimat-Mirin on top form last season and Cathcart and Dawson home-grown players, I transfer listed and sold Santacroce at Koln for 2.900.000 euros. He played last year in only 8 Premier League matches (6.61 average rating).

Championship Promotion & FA Cup Final

Ok, here are the results of the Eagles matches until the famous Boxing Day. The most important of them were the one against our arch rivals Brighton and Millwall. Against Brighton we won 1-0 at Selhurst Park with the goal of Antonio Pedroza, while against Millwall we managed to pull off a 2-0 victory away at The Den (goals scored by Ambrose and Pedroza).

After the Boxing Day, began a fantastic run for the Eagles both in the npower Championship and the FA Cup. First of all, the two derby matches. 1-0 away at Brighton at the American Express Co. thanks to an unfortunate goal by Gordon Greer and a brilliant 4-2 home victory at Selhurst Park (a hattrick scored by Stefan Strandberg and Julian Schieber).

And finally here are the results from the FA Cup that led to our place in the final at Wembley.
3rd round match vs. Bolton, 2-1 at Selhurst Park;
4th round match vs. Bristol Rovers 6-0, away at the Memorial Stadium;
5th round match vs. Tottenham 1-0 thanks to a final minute penalty goal scored by Jonas Svensson;
1/4 finals vs. West Ham at the Boleyn Ground, 1-1 draw;
1/4 finals (replay) vs. West Ham at home, 4-2 win;
1/2 finals vs. Wigan at Wembley. A dramatic match that ended 2-2 after 90 minutes, with a superb win on penalties;
So, here are the transfers made by the Eagles in our first season, in the npower Championship. In the summer transfer period, the important signings were the two players from Norway, Stefan Strandber (DC, 500.000 euros from Valerenga) and Jonas Svensson (MC, 1.300.000 euros from Rosenborg), from Bulgaria - Stefan Velev (MC, 300.000 euros from Beroe) and Georgi Terziev (DC, 250.000 euros from Chernomorets).

In form Palace managed to sign in the winter transfer period another four players who proved in the end essential for winning the promotion, Julian Schieber, James McArthur, Joe Lewis and Nicolas Isimat-Mirin.
Talking about the players that left the club this years, we have a totally different situation. The only notable transfers were the ones of Paddy McCarthy to Soton for 975.000 euros and Lomana LuaLua to Norwich (1.000.000 euros), who arrived at Palace in the summer, but had a rough 6 months being injured most of the time.

The Eagles

Welcome to Crystal Palace Football Club ! The team is based in South Northwood, their home ground is Selhurst Park 26297 all-seater, built in 1924. The club was founded in 1905 on the 10th of September.

Nicknames for the team : Eagles, Palace, Glaziers.

Crystal Palace have a number of rivalries. The most important rivalries are with Brighton, Charlton and Milwall, but let's not forget Man.U, who managed to beat the Eagles in their 1990 FA Cup Final.

We will be starting our first season in the npower Championship. Come on Palace !
